200 m stack remediation at Vřesová, Sokolovská uhelná, p.n., a.s.

The primary purpose of the repair was to prolong the overall service life of the stack in the current operating mode.

200 m stack repair, Heating Plant section – Phase I

Original condition

The inner surface of the stack from the level of 90 m above ground level up to 200 m suffered from deposits of up to 15 cm in thickness, localized damage to jointing of acid-resistant bricks, and localized damage to brickwork dilatation.

Repaired elements

Inner lining of the stack from 7 m to 200 m above ground level.

Scope of performed works

Ensuring access to the structure, preparation of access opening, blasting of the inner lining, localized repairs of dilatations and full-surface spray of the inner lining, bricking in and covering the access opening.

200 m stack repair, Heating Plant section – Phase II

Original condition

The outer surface of the chimney was damaged by a number of predominantly vertical cracks, the concrete surface around the construction joints suffered localized damaged to a depth of approximately 15 cm, the chimney surface had localized spalling damage above the reinforcement down to a depth of 5 cm, the stack concrete was carbonated down to the depth of 2 – 25 mm, the protective coating and day-time air traffic safety markings on the surface were considerably damaged, coatings of steel structures were damaged, steel structures had localized corrosion damage.

Outer surface of the chimney from ground level up to 200 m above ground level. Repair and coating of steel structures, assistance during reconstruction of aerial cabling and aerials.

Scope of performed works

Pre-treatment of the reinforced concrete base, blasting with high pressure water jet, grouting of cracks, reprofiling and protective coating of the outside chimney surface, repair and coating of steel structures, removal and installation of aerial and electric cabling, removal and installation of aerials.
